GoCardless lets Finta connect to supported banks through open banking. Your bank hosts the sign-in and approval screens. Finta never sees your bank credentials and cannot move money.

Connect a bank

  1. Open Accounts and select Add bank connection.
  2. Choose your country, then select a bank marked Via GoCardless.
  3. Review how long the bank will grant access and select Continue to [bank].
  4. Sign in and approve access on the bank’s site.
  5. Keep the Finta return page open while it checks and saves the connection.
Finta shows the access period it will request for the selected bank before you leave, so you do not need to assume a standard renewal date.
Bank authorization happens outside Finta. Canceling there shares nothing and returns you to your saved country and bank selection.

What the return to Finta means

The bank’s approval, a saved connection, available accounts, and the first sync are separate results.
  • Finishing your connection means Finta is checking the bank’s return. It has not claimed a saved connection yet.
  • Connection saved means Finta committed the connection and can read it back. You can keep using the app or set up a destination while the first sync runs.
  • Accounts pending means the connection is saved, but the bank has not made every account readable yet. Check Accounts later. Do not connect the bank again.
  • We couldn’t confirm your connection was saved means you should check Accounts before authorizing again. If the connection is absent, use Get help from the recovery screen.
  • We couldn’t finish this bank connection means Finta could not confirm what happened when your bank sent you back. Check Accounts before starting again. If the connection is absent, use Get help from the recovery screen.
An invalid return shows no bank, account, or attempt details. Start a new connection from Accounts.

Renew access

Use Reconnect when Finta requests renewed access on the connection card:
  1. Select Reconnect.
  2. Review the bank and access period, then continue to the bank.
  3. Approve access on the bank’s site.
  4. Keep the Finta return page open until it finishes.
Finta links the new agreement to the existing connection. Your existing account and destination relationships remain attached to that connection.

Check connection activity

Open the connection’s menu on Accounts to:
  • View syncs and inspect completed or failed syncs.
  • Set sync start date to choose how far back Finta requests transactions.
  • Remove connection when you no longer want Finta to request data from that bank.

Troubleshooting

You came back without connecting the bank: Nothing was saved. Continue with the same bank, choose a different bank, or close the flow. Your Finta selections remain available. Authorization expired: Start a fresh authorization from the recovery screen. Finta does not reuse the expired return. The bank page showed an error: Return to Finta and use the recovery action shown there. If the problem continues, open Get help. Finta does not guess whether the bank, GoCardless, or the connection caused the error. Transactions are not visible yet: A saved connection can finish before its first sync. Check View syncs for the latest result. You can continue using Finta and setting up destinations while you wait.
